Ludwig Van Beethoven

As a child, his gift for music
Made him distant from his peers
As his total deafness
Closed his world in later years.

For him the love of music
Its meter, tempo, form,
Would be his true heart song
Until the final storm.

His strength of personality
His passion and his pride
Made him well loved by his friends
But never brought to him a bride.

Cascades above and beneath,
Musicians urgent to be strident.
Bit tight clenched in his teeth,
To him the hall is silent.

Music to express all emotion,
Created in a life too brief
Though he wept to see the people’s joy,
Was death immortal beloved’s grief?
