Van Helsing - Biography in Verse

Van Helsing

Lucy, loved by beaux, strong and brave
Falls asleep at night, a dreaming slave,
Fading fast, none know why her pallor grows.
The local manor rests under a murder of crows.

A mysterious stranger there resides alone
With boxes of earth from his distant home.
Spiritual scientist, metaphysicist and friend,
Van Helsing arrives in time for poor Lucy’s end.

Sees the signs that Dracula is close at hand,
Chases him back to his own land.
Lucy’s suitors, Jonathan and Mina travel with him,
To pursue Dracula with determination, grim.

Though Dracula flees, he is full of anger,
Biting Mina in her sleep, he gains control of her,
But through Mina they know where Dracula resides,
As they confront and destroy Dracula’s brides.

They hunt vampires by day, one tomb they seek.
At night they are menaced as they sleep.
One tomb that holds death they break apart,
Dispatching Dracula with a stake through the heart.
