Moving to NW3 Hampstead, Swiss Cottage?
Swiss Cottage and Hampstead are two areas located in North West London, in the London Borough of Camden. They are both approximately 4 miles from the Charing Cross area and benefit from great transportation links, with numerous bus routes, both local and to and from Central London, a railway station and four Tube stations.
Swiss Cottage is a London district named after an inn built in 1804. This inn, constructed in the style of a Swiss Chalet, was originally called The Swiss Tavern, and currently houses a well renowned public house called ‘Ye Olde Swiss Cottage’ and an Odeon Cinema. Swiss Cottage also has its own tube station which is on the Jubilee Line (silver line), connecting the area with central London spots such as Victoria and Bond Street.
Hampstead is an extremely famous district in the North of London. A haven for celebrities, Hampstead boasts some of the most expensive properties in the whole United Kingdom, with some houses known to have sold for over fifty million pounds, and it has the largest concentration of millionaires per area of the whole country. It is famous for its artistic and cultural associations; local cultural attractions include Sigmund Freud’s home, now turned into Freud Museum, that houses Sigmund Freud’s very own study, which has been left exactly as it was when it was still in use by the great doctor; romantic poet John Keats’ home, in which, according to the legend, he wrote his perhaps most famous work, “Ode to a Nightingale”; Kenwood House, a former stately home preserved by the English Heritage, where a lot of historical films have been shot; and the Camden Arts Centre, a buzzing space for contemporary visual arts exhibitions.
The most famous part of Hampstead, though, is its large park, Hampstead Heath, which covers over 790 acres of land. It encloses Kenwood House, 25 ponds, hills, playgrounds, a lido, and it is a famous hotspot for VIPs and celebrities.
Hampstead is well linked to central London thanks to two adjacent tube stations (Belsize Park and Hampstead on the Northern Line), a London Overground Station (Hampstead Heath) and a major bus terminus which connects the popular area with London’s West End.
