Biggleswade is on the East Coast Main Line between London and the North-East of England and Edinburgh. Trains to London (Kings Cross) run at between 15-20 minute intervals at peak times with an average journey time of around 45 minutes. The town is situated just to the east of the A1, which has been upgraded to motorway standard for much of its length, and is around 15 miles from Luton airport, 25 miles from Stanstead or 43 miles from London Heathrow.
Biggleswade is a small market town, situated on the A1 around 40 miles north of London. Its population has grown considerably in recent years as people have moved to the area, attracted by reasonable property prices and good communication links, with new housing being built on the sites of old industrial areas such as the former Greene King brewery complex.
The Biggleswade/Sandy area is famous for market gardening and horticulture and is the home to the Jordan’s cereal business, the muesli and breakfast food manufacturer. The town has a large international standard swimming pool and associated leisure complex and is close to the Shuttleworth Collection aviation museum at Old Warden Airfield.
