Borehamwood is convenient for both the A1 trunk road, Junction 4 of the M1 and is approximately 10 miles from the North Circular road.
Elstree and Borehamwood station has connections via First Capital Connect to London St Pancras, Blackfriars, London Bridge, Bedford, Luton Airport and Gatwick Airport, with a journey time of just over 20 minutes to London St Pancras.
When one hears the name Elstree and Borehamwood, probably the first thing that springs to mind is the world-famous film studios, for which the area is renowned. Such iconic names as the Indiana Jones films, Star Wars and The King’s Speech were all filmed at the Elstree studios, as well as many famous television series, including Dancing on Ice and Strictly Come Dancing.
If you are considering moving to Borehamwood, however, it is likely to be for other reasons than the proximity of the film studios. The rapid rail links, not only to Central London, but also to Bedford and Luton, together with the convenient road and motorway networks, mean that easy travel to work is possible in many different directions.

There are local allotments, with annual competitions to decide who has been the most productive.
Nor is sport neglected, with the local football club, Boreham Wood playing in the Southern Conference league. The club has close ties with Arsenal Football Club, who helped them with travel arrangements when they played Weston-Super-Mare last September.
Meryfield, one of the local primary schools, has recently produced very favourable results in the Key Stage 2 examinations in reading, writing and Maths. This is a school in a very diverse community and there are around 39 different languages spoken amongst its pupils, proving that dedicated teachers can make a real difference. Parents moving to an area are usually very interested to learn how the local schools are performing, as it is often a factor when deciding where to live.
Places of interest, other than Elstree Studios, include The Venue, situated just outside Borehamwood. This has an underwater-themed play area, with wet and wild activities as well as a full-sized swimming pool and teaching pool, plus a recently developed soft play zone, with a ball pool, cargo nets, twin bump slide amongst the attractions for younger children. Aldenham Country Park has a wide range of adventure playground facilities, including some specifically geared towards children with special educational needs.
