The St Mary’s Church is an ancient parish original church and the present structure was erected back in 1841. It was constructed in the Gothic Revival style by the famed George Gilbert Scott and the wall paintings therein are thought to be the work of William Frederick Yeames.
The St Mary’s Churchyard contains a memorial place for the church’s most famous rector Dr. George H. Glasse. Other famous church structures in west London Hanwell include St Thomas The Apostle and St Mellitus. These were designed by Edward Mauffe and Sir Arthur Blomfield’s office respectively.
